Connection from Sound system to PC.

  • One time operation
  • Recording is done on PC.
  • Easiest way involves taking “record out” or similar signal from the mixer and connecting it to “line in” on the PC’s sound card.
  • Connectors vary wildly. Usually requires special cable/adapter.
  • Levels out/in vary wildly. Usually requires a custom pad.
  • With the right knowledge/tools can usually be done in <1hr.

Recording with a PC/Saving in suitable format.

  • Requires a program to record from the sound card.
  • One time setup, then repeat the process every week.
  • Needs to save in compressed format e.g. WMA, MP3 (or add a step with WindowsMediaConverter)
  • Useful features:
    •  Normalize Audio
    • Clean noise
    • Add extra information, e.g. Sermon Title, Pastor, open captions, etc.

Web Page/server/etc to access the sermons.

Uploading file to the web.

  • Somewhat dependant on what you do with the web page.
  • Simple version: Web designer updates a page and uploads the page and the sermon file like any other page.
  • Automated Version:
    • Very quick/easy!
    • Lots of features
    • Mostly foolproof
    • More customizations available.
