Bethany Presbyterian Church was established in 1909 as a mission project of First Presbyterian.  This congregation has journeyed through the typical travels of a church.  Yet we have had huge changes in our neighborhood – mostly with I-90 slicing up our residential area.  Indeed the future North Spokane Freeway places Bethany squarely in its’ path.  Change is a big part of our history.  Yet God is not done with Bethany and the work of Christ is not finished in this place.  Our collective faith journey has heard the Call of God to Love and accept all people with no exceptions.  We believe in the evangelism of justice.  This call has clarified our ministry on every level.  We do not see faithfulness to be about numbers or simplistic populist theology.  We see faith to be about integrity and dignity in the way of our Lord.  To that end we humbly try to be God’s witness of accepting love to people with mental illness, those with various addictions, people affected with AIDS, those with various sexual orientation, people who are poor, those who are conservative, and those who aren’t.  This call to love is tough – yet important to us.  We are a community of support, grace, and kindness – not just with words.  Bethany is served by The Rev. Paul Rodkey.
